DUI, Physical Control and Felony DUI Defense
Each year the laws against drinking and driving get tougher and tougher. DUI is no longer a minor charge. A conviction for DUI carries serious consequences including mandatory jail time, hefty fines, mandatory alcohol/drug counseling, and the loss of your driver’s license. A DUI can be charged as a Felony DUI depending on a person’s criminal history.
Defense attorney Aaron Rasmussen has handled many DUI cases, going back nearly 10 years. DUI and other alcohol-related driving offenses form a large part of our criminal defense practice.
For many people, the most serious consequence of a DUI conviction is losing their driving privileges. In many cases the Department of Licensing can suspend your license even if you are never convicted of a crime. You have a right to challenge your suspension, and defense attorney Rasmussen can help you mount that challenge. However, if you want to protect your driver’s license, there are some important deadlines you need to know about.
So don’t wait – call us now at (509) 241-0513 to set up a free consultation.
Domestic Violence: Guilty Before Proven Innocent?
If you’ve been charged with a domestic violence charge you already know how devastating it can be. Chances are that you’ve been locked up in jail only to find out that you can’t go home even after you’ve been released. You need an experienced domestic violence defense attorney to protect your rights.
When the police respond to a report of domestic violence someone is almost always going to jail. This is true even if the evidence is flimsy or almost non-existent. Sometimes the victim even tells the police that nothing happened and they still arrest you.
In addition, the courts almost always place a No-Contact-Order between the parties. This means that the person charged cannot return home, cannot speak to the other party (usually their own spouse), and oftentimes cannot even see their own children. Needless to say this places a tremendous hardship on families that can be emotionally and financially devastating.
Defense attorney Rasmussen has years of experience handling domestic violence cases, and he can help you navigate through this difficult process. If you are looking for a domestic violence defense attorney, call now for a free consultation at (509) 241-0513.
Drug-related criminal offenses are common, and the penalties are severe. Unlawful searches lead to many arrests. The first step for every defense attorney in fighting these charges is to look for ways to challenge these illegal searches. Law enforcement officers need to be held accountable when they break the law.
A good defense attorney will also recognize the need for drug treatment when it is necessary, and for people struggling with drug addiction who want to get help, there are programs, like the drug court program, that can help them kick the habit and help them avoid a lengthy prison sentence. Defense attorney Rasmussen will help you evaluate all of these options and find the solution that is best for you.
If you have been charged with a drug offense, call us at (509) 241-0513 to set up a free consultation.
Defense attorney Rasmussen also handles traffic infractions in the greater Spokane area. Traffic infractions lead to higher insurance rates, lost time spent in court, and can even result in a suspended license. You don’t have time to worry about it, so let us do it for you.
Our fee for handling most traffic infractions in the County or City of Spokane is $250.00, with some exceptions for cases involving accidents, commercial drivers, or other extenuating circumstances. And most of the time we can handle the case from beginning to end without you having to appear in court. The goal is to keep your record clean without you having to take time out of your schedule to deal with it.

Civil Rights Litigation
The excessive use of force by the police can lead to serious injury or even death. Prisoners have serious medical needs that are ignored by the prison staff, despite repeated requests for help. Property is taken from innocent owners without probable cause to believe that they were involved in criminal activity.
These are just some of the kinds of civil rights cases that defense attorney Rasmussen has investigated and, where necessary, litigated. If you have been injured or mistreated by a police officer or other government agent, then you may have a claim for a violation of your civil rights.
As a successful criminal defense attorney, Mr. Rasmussen has seen the way power can be abused. It may be possible to hold them responsible and recover for the injuries you have suffered.
If you believe you may have a claim for a violation of your civil rights, call our office at (509) 241-0513 to set up a free consultation.
Guns are an important part of many people’s lives, but if you have a criminal history, no matter how minor, you may have lost the right to possess a firearm. Defense attorney Rasmussen has helped many people get their Second Amendment rights restored.
The laws are complicated – there are both federal and state laws that prohibit certain people from possessing a firearm. It is important that the restoration of your gun rights is handled by someone who knows the law. More information about restoring your gun rights can be found on our main gun rights restoration page.
